about jennifer douglas, MS, lcpc-intern
You don’t have to carry this all on your own.
My name is Jennifer Douglas, and I’m a Las Vegas-based therapist who specializes in trauma, abuse recovery, and chronic and/or terminal illness. I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up exactly as you are — without having to minimize, explain away, or carry your experiences alone.
Many of the people who come to therapy with me have been strong for a very long time. They may have survived abuse, complex trauma, or experiences that left them feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or unsure of their own instincts. My role as a therapist is to create a space where those experiences can be acknowledged with care, compassion, and honesty.
Clients often tell me that they feel truly heard and understood in our work together. I approach therapy with warmth and empathy, while also being direct and thoughtfully challenging when it helps support growth. Healing often requires both support and honesty, and our work together is built on collaboration, trust, and respect.
I became a trauma therapist after recognizing that there are not enough spaces where people with significant trauma can feel safely supported. I have found that I am able to sit with people in moments of deep pain — including those who have endured immense abuse or difficult life experiences — and help them begin to process what they have been carrying for so long.
In therapy, we work together to better understand your experiences, recognize the patterns that may have developed through survival, and build tools that support healing and emotional stability. My approach integrates trauma-informed methods including EMDR, Parts and Memory Therapy, Somatic work, and Person-Centered therapy to address both the mind and body in the healing process.
My goal is not to “fix” you. Rather, it is to help you reconnect with your own strength, develop a deeper sense of self-trust, and move forward with greater clarity and stability.
Healing is not about becoming someone new — it is about creating the space to become more fully yourself.
please Hear me when I say:
Being here doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’re strong.
Choosing to begin therapy is often an act of strength. It takes courage to look honestly at your experiences, especially when those experiences involve pain, trauma, or uncertainty. Many people who come to therapy have spent a long time carrying their struggles quietly while continuing to care for others and manage daily life.
Seeking support is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign that you are willing to invest in your well-being and take meaningful steps toward healing. Therapy allows you to explore your experiences with honesty and compassion while developing the tools and understanding needed to move forward with greater confidence and stability.
How I work
At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that we work best as a cohesive team.
Clients often describe our sessions as a place where they feel both supported and understood. My approach is warm and compassionate, while also being honest and direct when it serves your growth.
In our work together, you can expect a space where your experiences are taken seriously and where you are not expected to minimize or explain away what you have been through. I believe healing happens best in environments where people feel safe enough to be authentic.
At times, I may gently challenge patterns or perspectives that no longer serve you. These moments are always rooted in respect and care, and they are intended to support deeper insight and meaningful change.
Therapy with me is collaborative. We work together to understand your experiences, identify patterns that may have developed through survival, and build tools that help you feel more stable, confident, and connected to yourself.
Your therapy experience should feel supportive, collaborative, and aligned with the person you are and the life you want to build.
Who I work best with
I work best with adult women who are ready to explore their experiences with honesty and curiosity, even when the work feels difficult.
The people who benefit most from our work together are often those who:
• Are ready to better understand how past experiences may still be impacting their lives
• Want to rebuild trust in their own thoughts, feelings, and instincts
• Are open to exploring patterns that developed through survival
• Are willing to engage in the process of healing, even when it feels challenging
• Value a therapy space that is both supportive and honest
My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. At times, I may gently challenge patterns that no longer serve you, always with the goal of helping you grow stronger and more confident in yourself.
Therapy works best when both therapist and client are actively engaged in the process, working together toward meaningful change.
Therapy with me is…
-
Therapy with me is tailored to your unique experiences, needs, and goals. In our early sessions, we take time to understand what has brought you to therapy and what you hope will change. From there, I adapt our work using trauma-informed approaches such as EMDR, Parts and Memory Therapy, Somatic work, and Person-Centered therapy. Throughout the process, your feedback helps guide the direction of our work so that therapy remains supportive, collaborative, and aligned with your pace.
-
Authenticity in therapy means showing up as real people in a genuine conversation. In our sessions, you can expect warmth, honesty, and a space where you don’t have to hide or minimize your experiences. I approach our work with compassion and curiosity, while also being direct when it supports growth. My goal is to create a therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, and openness so you can explore your experiences in a way that feels safe and meaningful.
-
Therapy with me is a private and confidential space where your experiences are treated with care and respect. Your personal information and what you share in sessions are protected by strict confidentiality and ethical guidelines. Because I offer telehealth sessions, many clients also appreciate the added discretion of attending therapy from the privacy of their own home. My goal is to provide a space where you can speak openly, knowing your experiences will be handled with professionalism and respect.
-
Therapy with me focuses on understanding the deeper patterns that shape how you experience yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. Rather than only addressing surface-level symptoms, we take time to explore the underlying experiences and beliefs that may be contributing to distress. Through thoughtful conversation and trauma-informed approaches, we work to gently process what has been carried for a long time while building tools that support lasting change. This deeper work helps many clients develop greater self-understanding, emotional stability, and trust in themselves.
-
Therapy with me is a collaborative process where we work together to understand your experiences and identify what you would like to change or strengthen. Your perspective, goals, and feedback help guide the direction of our work. I bring clinical knowledge and support, while you bring your lived experience and insight into yourself. Together, we move at a pace that feels supportive while building the tools and understanding needed for meaningful change.
